Orurebe pleaded not guilty before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The former minister was arraigned on November 8, 2015 on charges of false assets declaration and acceptance a bribe of N70m.

At Tuesday’s court proceedings, prosecutor Mohammad Diri moved to amend the first charge and substitute it with a new one-count charge.

In the amended charge, Orurebe is accused of failing to declare his Plot 2057 in Askoro District, Abuja, when he assumed office of Minister of Niger Delta Affairs on September 26, 2007 and on leaving office on June 29, 2011. This failure to declare his assets violates Section 15 of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act and is punishable under Section 23(2) of the same act.

After the charge was read to Orurebe, Diri moved to adjourn to April 7, which was granted by Tribunal Chairman Danladi Umar
