It is within the public knowledge that the marriage between Hon. Suraju Ishola, the speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly and his wife, Mrs Iyabo had gone sour.
The couple has approached the customary court at Agbeloba, Abeokuta, Ogun State South-West of Nigeria for the dissolution of their marriage, in the Suit No A/10/2016.
However, immediately after the court session, a disagreement ensued between the couple which led to the Honourable Speaker beating up his wife outside the court premises and in the public glare. we learnt that the wife of the Speaker is an officer of the Nigeria Securities and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and she was accompained to the court by one of her colleagues also NSCDC officer.
Reports confirmed that the Honourable Speaker ordered his security aides and his accompany policemen to assault his wife colleague. The Policement (Aides to the Speakers) assaultede and stripped the NSCDC officer right in front of the court. Meamwhile the wife of the Honnourable Speaker has instructed her lawyers to seek full legal redress against the Honuorable Speaker for this gross breach of human rights and impunity.
More than ever before, the call Political leaders of round and sound characters is expedient and Nigerians clamour for nothing short of this.
The Nigerian Movement For Positive Change(NMPC) has condemned this act as an act of gross misconduct and violation of human rights. NMPC therefore invite the Speaker to resign honourably from his position as Speaker of the House of Ogun State House of Assembly.
