Joshua rises above the noise to live the high life

World boxing heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua may have come from humble beginnings but he is enjoying his well-deserved down-time after defeating challenger Carlos Takam in his 20th knockout win on Saturday night.

Joshua, the British WBA and IBF heavyweight champ, consolidated his victory over Wladimir Klitschko back in April by triumphing against the dogged Takam at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in 10 hard-fought rounds of boxing.

In his first fight since ending the career of the powerful Klitschko, the 28-year-old from Watford wore down his little-known opponent from France.

And now the 2012 Olympic gold medal winning super-heavyweight is delighting in his time away from the gym while he and his team ponder their next fight – by savouring the high-life in a helicopter as he made his way back to London.

Not content with mingling with Hollywood’s heavyweights such as Idris Elba and Colin Farrell after beating Takam, Joshua, who was with Beats by Dre as part of their #AboveTheNoise campaign, proved the sky’s the limit by jumping on board the helicopter with his pals.

The Hertfordshire giant – who has said 2018 is ‘full of possibilities’ – is being pursued by undefeated WBC title holder Deontay Wilder who wants to claim Joshua’s WBA and IBF belts.

The possible blockbuster heavyweight showdown to unify the division could happen at some stage next year, with Wilder hinting he will accept promoter Eddie Hearn’s £3million offer to fight Dillian Whyte – but only if he gets a crack at Joshua afterwards.

Hearn has said the Joshua-Wilder fight ‘has to happen’ in the wake of Joshua’s weekend win – even if the Watford winner may fight WBO champion Joseph Parker before tackling Wilder.

Joshua, 28, said: ‘The possibilities are bubbling nicely in the distance. I’m not worried about 2018 because of the potential possibilities to come.

‘I want the other two belts out there, whether it’s Wilder first or Parker.’

In the meantime, however, Joshua is enjoying rising above the noise.
