THE Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media,Femi Adesina, says the federal government will begin implementation of the 2018 budget by January.

Adesina said the presentation of the 2018 budget to the national assembly is “promise made and promise being kept”.

He said barring any exigencies, government would revert to the January- to-December budget cycle.

Adesina spoke in a video published by the Presidency Office of Digital Engagement (PODE).

“We believe that the national assembly will work on the budget expeditiously so that it can be passed by January, and revert to the January-to-December budget cycle,” he said.

He said though a week behind the October deadline, presenting the budget on November 7 was a big step forward.

Adesina said the 2017 budget is currently under implementation, with a successful release of first quarter capital.

The second, he added, would be released anytime from now, which according to him, means better times ahead for the country.

“Nigeria is in for good times ahead, so it is incumbent on us all to cooperate with the government,” he said.
