THE Nigeria Movement for Positive Change (NMPC) has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to retire from politics come 2019 and not bother to seek re-election.

This advice wa stated in a press statement titled “President Buhari, It’s time to go”, signed and released by the National President, Nigeria Movement for Positive Change (NMPC), Barrister Niyi Aborisade, and released on Monday.

The NMPC President advised that President Buhari should go home by 2019 and never mull the idea of testing his popularity again, but toe the part of honour and retire.

He noted that President Buhari with high hopes on his shoulders towards 2015 has performed below expectation, naturally should not put himself forward to seek re-election, not to toy with the unity of Nigeria at this crucial moment but save the situation and bow out gracefully.

He added that Buhari has done his best which according to Aborisade is not up to the expected standard of a 21st century Nigerian President, coupled with his failing health status should retire come 2019.

According to the statement,”NIGERIA is not at crossroads. We are at a bus stop or train station, and when a train stops, passengers must either come in or alight. Nigeria is at the bus stop, someone must alight and that person is President Muhammadu Buhari.

“It is unfortunate that with enthusiasm and unprecedented expectations that made Nigerians voted for the perceived change in 2015, coupled with galaxies of promises to transform Nigeria into the country of our dream by President Muhammadu Buhari shortly before the 2015 election, it is rather calamitous that we are where we are today as a country.

“Ironically, President Buhari still continues to blame the past administration for the problems he knew he was inheriting long before the date of election three years after his ascension. This administration continues to reel out unconfirmed news that millions of jobs have been created in the last years, but the effect is not felt in the economy.

“Specifically, these indices have grown from worse to worst especially in terms of security where lives of helpless Nigerians were lost on daily basis because “the dog and the baboon” are “all soaked in blood” now.

“Aside the unpardonable state of economy, the level of insecurity which has left helpless Nigerians to continue to count the the number of people killed either by Boko Haram which the Nigerian Army under Buhari said it had ‘defeated technically’ or the new rave of careless and daylight killings by Fulani herdsmen, that cost President Muhammadu Buhari over 30 days to react?

In fact, security reason is enough reason Mr President Buhari should not re-contest for a ‘privileged’ constitutional second term in 2019.

“Today, Mr President has been exposed as someone who has rolled out all arsenal in his armory without any song of victory in sight.

“It is on this note that the Nigeria Movement for Positive Change (NMPC) unequivocally call on President Muhammadu Buhari to toe the path of honour and shelve the plan to re-contest in 2019.

“He should know that the die is cast, especially when the same forces that forced him on Nigeria have started retracting the same way they came together to foist him on the country.

“The Nigeria Movement for Positive Change (NMPC) has over three years now been championing pragmatic movement for change in political leadership and development in Nigeria. Today, we reiterate our resolve to say it’s time for 21st century development in Nigeria and anybody that qualifies should come out in 2019 to vie for the exalted post of the President of Nigeria. “
