The General Hospital in Aba which has remained moribund since 2010 has been re-opened by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
Speaking at the event yesterday, the governor described the hospital as the health soul of Aba.
βThe hospital was firm, secure and renowned for medical practice but a few years ago the story
changed. Today is yet another milestone. This is good news for Aba people that your general
hospital has bounced back,β he said.
He announced that the state government will provide a 250 kva generator to the hospital within one
month while rehabilitation of structures will continue.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr John Ahukanna, said the Aba General Hospital is the first to be
completed while others will follow.
The Executive secretary, Hospital Management Board (HMB), Dr Ijeoma Nduka and the chairman of the
Board of the HMB, Alozie Reginald, said the hospital boasts of facilities and appealed to the Aba
community to patronize the health outfit.
