Communique issued at the end of the Nigerian Movement for Positive Change (NMPC) 2018 Democracy Day lecture, held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Alice Palace, Agodi Road, Ibadan.

The Nigerian Movement for Positive Change (NMPC), as a detribalise pressure group, which is non-governmental, apolitical and non-religious organisation re-affirm our positions in this communique issued and signed today, Saturday June 2, 2018, at its lecture to commemorate the 2018 Nigerian democracy day ceremony.

The thematic focus of this year celebration is “Political Leadership in Nigeria”, and was well attended by stakeholders from across all human endeavour including, women, youth, religious leaders, party chieftains, cultural groups, social groups among others.

. We believe that the welfare and happiness of the people of Nigeria as individual should be sincerely paramount to all political office holders. Hence, NMPC is poised to create this awareness across the 36 states of the Federation and sensitise the electorates on their electoral power.

. With our aims and objectives entrenched in the Unity of Nigeria, good leadership, accountability, equal opportunity and good governance, NMPC reiterate its position as not being bank rolled by any political party or politician.

. We call on every eligible Nigerian voter not to cast their voters for unknown candidates, but be ready to probe, interview and interrogate would-be-candidates before going ahead to cast their votes for him/her.

. We call on government at all levels to take the welfare of teachers as the utmost priority. A hungry teacher will produce uneducated students and or graduates as the case may be. It is noteworthy that over 80 percent of problems confronting the standard of education in Nigeria today are as a result of maltreatment melted out to teachers.

. We implore Nigerians to get their Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) to make their votes count and vote people that will sharpen their future.

We enjoined all youths, youth groups and young electorate to avoid been used for political violence, brigandade or as tools of violence or mayhem in the hands of desperate politicians, in achieving their selfish gains.

. Finally, NMPC called on politicians to as a matter of fact remove money consciousness, ‘stomach infrastructure’ from politics for the betterment of all Nigerians and the country at large.
