Katsina releases N1.3b for UNICEF’s GEP project

Katsina state government has released N1.3b counterpart funding for the implementation of UNICEF’s Girls Education Project GEP3.

The state’s commissioner of Education Dr. Badamasi Lawal who disclosed this during the GEP dissemination meeting in Katsina said some focal areas of the intervention shall be on Training of teachers, School census and enrolment campaign drive among others.

According to him, the administration has since inception made Education it’s highest priority saying that government is committed to partner UNICEF to boost Girl Child education’

He also revealed that ,Qur’anic integrated schools (IQS) are receiving much attention from UNICEF in the State.

In her remarks, the UNICEF desk officer in the Ministry Hajiya Binta Abdulmumin announced the expansion of UNICEF intervention from 3 to 9 LGA’s across the state.
