The State of the Nation.
Nigerian of today is at the brink of disintegration . An air of melancholy has surrounded the entire country. The situation is far worst than the darkest days of the maximum ruler ( Late General Sanni Abacha).
I recalled in 2014 how majority of the population were deceived into believing that the Messiah has arrived that will change the course of history in Nigeria. ‘Boko Haram will be defeated in 3 months , electricity will be fixed within one year, cost of buying fuel will be drastically reduced , our currency will be at par with dollar and hunger will be wiped out completely. Employment for all, those who are not able to secure employment will be paid 5000 Naira a month.’ Change that has never been witnessed is going to take place. General Muhammad Buhari is here, the most disciplined retired soldier, a despot now born again democrat will deliver the change. The heavens have approved him. He was the answer to our fasting and prayers.
PMB was promoted and venerated to the level of the gods. Pastor Tunde Bakare in fact was short of calling him a Christian and PMB himself to support this anointing made a brief appearance at the Holy Ghost Convention night vigil presided by pastor Adeboye. The Christians were agog, the changed his here after all He has picked one of them as his deputy an erudite professor of law and a pastor , what a perfect team. The retired chameleon is a master of deception. Moslems are not left out , he is a devout Moslem that will enforce the will of Allah in Nigeria and food will become plenty and house for all. Allah Akbar they shouted.
PMB started his deceit by making promises he knew he will not and does not intend to keep as events later turned out.
We all cried and asked that PresidentJonathan be crucified. He was a man hated and rejected by all of us , the master propagandist has worked on all of us and we desperately need the change. We believed we have better option in PMB if he can deliver all the promises. Yes he will, we believed
A voice in the person of chief Ebenezer Babatope came out of wilderness to warn us but his voice was drowned in the web of deceit and propaganda that has captured most of us who truly desired change in Nigeria. Joseph Goebbels, the Hitler propagandist said ” tell a lie one thousand times and it will become the truth” but our forefathers say that lies may be running away for 20 years but one day the truth will catch up on it.
The first glimpse of PMB incompetency appeared at the early stage of his administration when he failed to appoint cabinet within 6 months. He was not prepared to rule Nigeria, he has no clue , no blue prints, has no idea who will be where. We were told to give him time and before we realised what hit us Nigeria economy and infrastructure are going down the drain. The former government was to be blamed for PMB failure so we were told. The Boko Haram onslaught against the military and the people continue unabated , more powerful and more daring than before. The Fulani herdsmen have more courage to kill, maim and kidnap, yet our president advised us to give them our land or we die. They are entitled to have colony all over Nigeria, it is their birthright.
The body language and the utterances of the president clearly shows that he has little clue about what it takes to be a leader. The change indeed came to us but a negative one indeed
The best president that Nigeria never had stated in 1975 when Gowon reneged on his promise to hand over to civilian that there is a huge difference between the time of making a promise and the time of fulfilling that promise. PMB made promises that he did not and cannot fulfil.
Now we are in a serious problem and Osun Election has shown us that PMB is not like Jonathan in that he is not going to surrender power easily even if he is defeated at the poll. When he was defeated in 2011 he called on his mujahideen to render the country ungovernable. That was a time when he was not even the commander in chief and now that he has power , we can imagine what is going to happen.
He is contesting and he has made it clear that we should go and pray as he cannot fix our problem yet he is still coming back again by fire by force.
The choice is now with the electorates to decide and they should not allow people to steal their votes. Our people repelled the forces of reactionary in 1965 when attempt was made by forces of reactionary who tried to truncate their rights. Let us stand up for our rights, let us defend our rights, enough of fear and timidity let us vote enmasse for the right candidates and defend our votes.
The State of Our Nation today is bad. We need a positive change.
