It may take 24 years to have a party that will foster development in Nigeria – NMPC Vice President

THE Vice President, National Movement for Positive Change (NMPC), Shola Thomas has declared that it may take Nigeria between 16 and 24 years to have a political party which is truly people-oriented in its policies and ideologies, and actually drive Nigeria’s developmental agenda from the rigmarole stage it is at the moment.

Thomas made this known in a statement issued on the current political development in the country, a situation he called hopeless despite the change mantra in the country in the last three and half years.

Thomas also acknowledged that Nigeria found itself in its current position because it once missed the opportunity of being ruled by its best crop of leaders at a point in its history.

According to the statement, “Traceable Race must start from now. If we want a real change it will take another 16-24 years of passionate consistent mobilization of human power to change the masquerading politician who are all held bent to milk us and determine our life for us.

“We always regret that we missed it at a point in time. Nigeria lost the opportunity to have a great man lead this country at a crucial stage. We have never been fortunate with reliable potential leaders who actually meant well for this country.

“Our fire brigade political parties with no agenda or ideologies to win election than having their own share of the national cake from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not either helped the matter.

“In Nigeria, we would have done much than other if this simple analogue system of running in a relay race in the primary school is employed..

“Reverse has ever being the case. Why are we always recounting history? We are not getting better leaders because we employ leopard method of change rather than simple metamorphosis.

“Though we profess change as the ultimatum tool to reach the promised our land but in actual fact, we are crawling as a nation. The visible path we have thread is crawling.

“History tells us that even from the colonial period which eventually gave birth to military government in Nigeria, the country was never a flying nation. During the military regime, we crawled back to democracy with high hopes that things will change for better, nay, the story was the same if not worse.”

He then advocate the need for the current crop of citizens to chat a way for real development by formulating an electoral pattern that will make this possible if the country ever wanted to realise its goal.

“We need to check the mobilisation currently on display now. We have to stop this big man show.

“Let’s cultivate the road path for tomorrow’s greatness. Let’s wake up to assist the new generation in our wards and Local Government council areas. Let’s change our voting pattern so that new and intelligent face could come around to manage our legislative assemblies drive political development. These are traceable race. Let’s start a controlled election for the younger ones, if they do well, they can change the nation for better.

“The big picture is not about winning and losing; it’s about our collective daily hard work, about thriving on a challenge. It’s about embracing the pain that you’ll experience comfort at the end of a race fearlessly and without being covetous.”
