Don’t contest in 2019, Cleric warns Buhari

The Anglican Bishop of Egbu Diocese near Owerri Imo state, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Enyinnaya Okoroafor, weekend advised President Mohammadu Buhari, against yielding to the pressure by some people to contest the 2019 presidential election.

According to the cleric, the call on President Buhari, to seek for the mandate to be on the seat for another four years, is not in the right direction, considering the health status of Mr. President.

In his words, “President Mohammadu Buhari should read the hand writing on the wall and ignore the call by political sycophants and vacate office in May 29, 2019”.

The Bishop also showed regrets, that the present administration under president Buhari does not pay attention to the public opinion, particularly on how to fight and checkmate corruption.

In 82 paged address at the First session of the eight synod of the Diocese held at the Cathedral Church of all saints, Egbu in Owerri North Local Government area of the state, Bishop Okorafor critically looked at the economics, political and social conditions in the country today.

Also Bishop Okorafor urged the Imo state governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha to appraise the performance of his administration in the state, saying that “it is very ungodly for only administration to one pensioners and workers particularly when Paris club fund was released to state governments.

HE advised Governor Okorocha to sincerely examine his policies and styled of governance, to see how the people of the state regards his administration.

The bishop decried a situation whereby the governor makes under payment salaries to the state workers, pointing out that this method violets the God’s order, that “a worker deserves his full wages”.

He therefore urged Governor Okorocha, to put a stop this illegal deduction being carried out on worker salaries and pensions in the state.
