A member of the National Movement for Positive Change (NMPC) Jumoke Adegboye has called on African countries and the United Nations to identify and sanction organisations and agencies in Nigeria and other African countries behind human trafficking and slave trade business in the continent.

Adegboye stated this while fielding questions from members of the media during the anti-slavery rally organised by the NMPC to the Libyan embassy in London at the weekend.

Adegboye’s statement is coming on the heels of revelations of hundreds of Nigerians and other African nationals who were trapped and killed in slave camps in Libya under the pretense of seeking greener pastures in Europe.

According to her,”I believe that changes need to start from the actual roots of the problem we are having. There are definitely some kind of organisations and agencies in Nigeria and other countries in Africa behind what is happening.

“Let’s forget about the UK government and the European Union (EU) funding the camps, but there’s agencies in Africa that are telling lies to all these innocent people, telling them that things will run smoothly and that they will find a job without a hassle once they enter Europe.

“These are the agencies that need to be banned and abolished. There needs to be some sort of education, something in place to stop such agencies from ruining our very own people.

“And of course, legal actions against the the UK government and the EU who are partly involved in this shall be set in place.,” she concluded.
